This is a local cold case I believe will never be solved. I believe that because I think someone in law enforcement was responsible for her death. Our tiny town sure likes to keep it top secret. On November 13th, 1960 14 year old Nancy Eagleson was walking home from a movie when she was forced into a car and driven off. Her sister, Cheryl, who was 5 years old at the time, ran for help but Nancy was gone before it could be mobilized. Her body was found by two hunters in the woods seven miles northeast of Paulding. She laid 100 yards from a county road. Her undergarments had been torn off and her shoes laid beside her body. An autopsy performed disclosed that Nancy had been killed by a gunshot wound in the head by a small caliber weapon and that she had been sexually molested.
The police only description of the killer came from Nancy's 5 year old sister. Her description was he was a big man in a big car. Nancy's murdered resembled a murder of a 9 year old girl in Chicago, about 8 hours earlier and 250 miles west of Paulding. At the time of Nancy's abduction both of her parents were at work. Nancy and Cheryl had left the movie and continued to walk home. They stopped to buy a drink and were continuing their walk when the man accosted them two blocks from their home. He stopped his car and offered them a ride. When they refused he grabbed Nancy and shoved her into his car. Cheryl ran to the home of a neighbor and told what had happened. Road blocks were quickly set up but they didn't help. Police searched for Nancy throughout the night. The hunt ended at 2:30 am when her body was found.
Now let's fast forwards many years later. Police claim evidence had been lost in Nancy's case. In 2013 when the Paulding County Jail was being renovated a shoe was uncovered in the basement. The shoe was found in a narrow passageway behind stone walls. That shoe belonged to Nancy. Nancy's shoe, her dress, scarf, purse, and her personal belongings disappeared in the years since the case was being actively worked. With this new found evidence the police hoped to get some DNA off of her shoe but that was not successful.
Now from what I remembered a cold case show tried to run this case on tv but the Paulding County Police Department has never been cooperative. Sounds Fishy to me!
