Rhoden Family Massacre- The Victims


The Rhoden family massacre has grabbed America's attention. How does someone simply walk into four different homes and kill an entire family? Let's start by talking about the victims. The Rhoden family consists of Christopher Rhoden Sr. his ex-wife Dana Manley Rhoden. They had three children together. Clarence "Frankie" Rhoden, Hanna May Rhoden, and Christopher Rhoden Jr. All five victims of the April 22nd, 2016 massacre around Piketon, Ohio. In addition to these five Kenneth Rhoden (Christopher Rhoden Sr. brother), Gary Rhoden (Christopher Rhoden Sr. cousin) and Hannah Hazel Gilley (Frankie Rhoden's fiancée) were also killed that night.

Christopher Rhoden Sr. age 40 at the time of his death was born to Clarence and Geneva Rhoden. He worked at Big Bear Lake in Lucasville, Ohio. Mr. Rhoden was shot in the head, torso, and limbs a total of 9 times. Staying with him was his cousin Gary Rhoden. It's presumed that Gary came from Kentucky and Mr. Rhoden was helping him stay sober. Nobody seems to know how long Gary was staying with Mr. Rhoden when the attacks happened, Gary Rhoden was 38 at the time of his death. He was born in Ashland, Kentucky and was the son of Kenneth Rhoden (not the same as victim Kenneth). Gary died from 3 gunshot wounds to the head. We will call Christopher Rhoden Sr. and Gary Rhoden's location number 1 on Union Hill Road,, Pike County, Ohio.

Location number 2- Dana Lynn Manley Rhoden's home. Dana is the ex wife to Christopher Rhoden Sr. the two seemed to be reconciling at the time of their deaths. Dana was 37 years old at the time of her death. She is the daughter of Leonard and Judy Manley. Dana was shot 5 times in the head and neck. Her daughter Hanna May Rhoden was 19 at the time of her death. She was the mother of 2 year old Sophia Wagner and 4 day old Kylie Rhoden. Sophia was not in the home the night of the murders, however, Hanna May was shot twice while her newborn daughter was cuddled up to her. The final victim in location 2 is Christopher Rhoden Jr. He was 16 at the time of his death and was a freshman at Piketon High school. Christopher was shot 4 times in the head.

Location 3- Clarence "Frankie" Rhoden's home. He was the son of Dana and Christopher and lived fairly close to Sr. Frankie was 20 years old at the time of his death. His 3 year old son was present during the murders and has been said he was asleep on the couch. However, his 6 month old son was laying between him and his fiancée Hannah Hazel Gilley when they were murdered. Frankie was shot 3 times in the head and Hannah Hazel Gilley was shot 5 times in the head. Hannah Hazel Gilley was only 20 years old at the time of her death. Hannah Hazel Gilley is the daughter of Andrea Shoemaker Carver and Raymond Gilley.

These 3 locations are all on Union Hill Road in Pike County, Ohio and within close distance to one another.

Location 4- Kenneth Rhoden's home on 799 Left Fork Rd. Kenneth was 44 years old at the time of his death. He was the brother of Christopher Rhoden Sr. Kenneth died to a single gunshot wound to the head.

All the small children that were home on that night were spared by the killers. Many think that the babies may have been removed prior to the shootings. The bodies of all the victims were taken to Hamilton County Coroner's office in Cincinnati. Bruising was found on some of the victims which indicated the victims were also beat.

April 28th Gary Rhoden was laid to rest in South Shore, Kentucky. Hannah Hazel Gilley was buried on May 1st, in Otway, Ohio. The final Rhoden members were buried on May 3rd in West Portsmouth, Ohio.
